Day 1
The truck delivering our Landmark framing package arrived at 8AM, exactly on time, complete with a friendly driver who reassured us that he would stay as long as necessary.
Despite a very tight squeeze in the driveway among the trees, the crane truck was able to unload the roof trusses quite easily.
The tight squeeze, however, made it difficult to use the crane to unload the wall panels as we intended and so we improvised ways to do it by hand.
Here one of the larger (11 foot) panels is carefully manhandled down a slide made from two chimney panels.
Most of the panels were engineered to be in more-easily-handled 8 foot widths that could be handed down from the truck without too much trouble.
If we had realized how difficult it would be to get the crane near the truck, we would have asked Landmark to construct all the frames to 8 foot widths. It is possible to go even smaller
Finally, we worked out a way to get the crane to the securely-strapped and very heavy piles of flooring and roof ply. Once unloaded, these were carefully covered in clear plastic to protect them from the weather.
It took until lunchtime to get everything off the truck, mostly due to the frames being unloaded by hand, but the driver was patient and it all turned out fine. After all that hard lifting and carrying, we decided to adjourn for the day and start framing early the next morning.
